May 4th, 2008Placing 200metres of 40mm pipe 3metres below ground.
Having decided to install ground source heat pump in our house it became apparant that we would have to sacrifice our mature garden to 200 metres of 40mm HDPE pipes. Access would be difficult and a full size digger would not be possible, but a mini unit would be able to reach the garden. Another problem with the mini digger is that the depth is limited to 2metres, thus requiring a trench to be dug the width of the digger and 1metre down, and at this level a slit trench can be dug to accommodate the pipe to a depth of 3metres.
